The people of a just parish appreciate and reflect the diversity of our society as part of their vision, and live inclusively as an expression of their mission. They recognize and accept their responsibility to work toward the equality of all people, carrying the Gospel beyond Sunday worship into every aspect of life. In multiple ways, parishioners are invited to break down barriers through conversation and actions that are specific, regular and immediate. In the dynamic of serving others, parishioners are receptive to the mutuality of being served and of learning.
The Care for Creation team at St. Anthony upholds this teaching of the Church in a variety of ways.
The “two feet” of charity and justice guide us in our efforts to effect systemic change while not forgetting the pressing and immediate needs of our brothers and sisters. Each year the Peace & Justice Committee allocates a percentage of the parish collection to agencies locally and nationally.
Each year the Peace and Justice Committee oversees the distribution of parish funding to charitable and non-profit organizations on both the local and national level. In addition, they coordinate the yearly Thanksgiving baskets, a Christmas Giving Tree and a monthly food collection in cooperation with MEAC.
Here are more organizations who received funds this year.
St. Anthony Parish has been involved in a twinning relationship with Our Lady of Health on the Caribbean island of Dominica since 2003. By this relationship, established through the Mission Office of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, parishioners here in Cincinnati can establish relationships with our brothers and sisters in Christ in Dominica. Through visits and pen pals, we learn about each other.
