Faith Formation Vision Statement

St. Anthony Parish, realizing that faith is a journey that leads us to seek understanding of God and a relationship with His Son, Jesus, we engage people of all ages and stages of life through experiences that allow us to know, love, and serve the Lord more deeply and completely.

The Sacraments express and realize an effective and profound communion among us, for in them we encounter Christ the Savior and, through him, our brothers and sisters in faith...
(Pope Francis)

Sacraments

Anointing

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is available for those facing serious illness, surgery or infirmity. The sacrament ordinarily will be celebrated within Mass, or may be received at home, in a hospital or nursing facility, at Mass or at church outside of Mass. It is our hope that you or a loved one contact us before a scheduled hospital procedure to enlist our parishioner’s prayer support.

Baptism

For children age 6 and younger, baptismal preparation sessions are held once a month at St. Cecilia Parish. To register for the baptismal preparation class, please go to this link and fill out the digital registration form at the bottom of the page. Children age 7 and older will participate in the weekly Rite of Christian Initiation for Children in addition to regular EPIC or EDGE programs.

Confirmation

Confirmation is celebrated every other year with St. Margaret-St. John and St. Cecilia Parishes. Preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation happens Sunday mornings within our EDGE program. Please enroll your 7th/8th Grader in EDGE in order to prepare for this sacrament by following this link and fill out the digital form at the bottom of the page.

Eucharist

First Holy Communion is celebrated in the spring after Easter. Preparation for First Holy Communion happens during EPIC classes on Sunday Morning starting in September. Please enroll your 2nd grader in EPIC in order to prepare for this grace-filled sacrament by following this link and fill out the digital form at the bottom of the page.

Marriage

Couples desiring to be married should contact the parish office at least six months in advance of their desired date. Before the date is confirmed, they must meet with the priest or deacon who will officiate. The preparation includes filling out a pre-marital inventory, meeting with a married couple and attending a diocesan-sponsored preparation program.
Download our packet of Marriage Preparation Guidelines (and more) before coming in for a face-to-face meeting. For more information on the preparation process for Holy Matrimony, please follow this link

RCIA

Each of the three parishes within our Pastoral Region comes together as one in a combined RCIA program. RCIA gives you the opportunity to explore Catholic teachings and rituals through conversation, prayer, and study with a group of parishioners who lead weekly sessions. Participants who complete the process are initiated into the Catholic Church during the Easter Vigil with the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist. RCIA is for adults and children over 7 years old.

RCIA meets on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM in the St. Cecilia School Cafeteria - (4115 Taylor Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45209). RCIA is a vibrant, relevant and complete process to introduce, re-evangelize, and reinvigorate our parish. The 30 compelling sessions of this bold series guides participants through the breadth and richness of their Catholic faith. While the direction is towards the catechesis of those interested in becoming Catholic, all parishioners are welcome to attend and participate in this dynamic program. We guarantee all will learn something new about Jesus Christ, His Church, and our faith. To register for this process or for questions about our Catholic faith, please go to this link and fill out the digital registration form at the bottom of the page. Contact our Regional Director of Religious Education, Cody Egner, at (513) 871-5757, ext. 215 or  cegner@eastsideregion.org with any questions.

Reconciliation

First Reconciliation is celebrated in November and is celebrated jointly with the other parishes of our pastoral region. Preparation for First Reconciliation happens during EPIC classes on Sunday Morning starting in September. Please enroll your 2nd grader in EPIC in order to prepare for this grace-filled sacrament by following this link and fill out the digital form at the bottom of the page.
